Mini Big Chop

Gone are the days of me holding on to my hair. I know when to let it go and today, after wrestling with my decision to cut out those dreadful layers, I decided to go ahead and DO IT! I pranced my hindparts into a Bubbles salon and asked for a natural hair stylist. I was kind of testing my "gangsta" because I half way didn't want to cut it and I just knew that they wouldn't have a natural hair stylist BUT they did. I was sitting in her chair 25 minutes later.

I will be honest, my heart was RACING, my palms were sweating and I was about to get up and leave. However, I knew that I had to get my hair evened out. If you have been following my journey for a while you know that I complain about my layers a lot. The longer my hair got the worse my layers became. The initial layers came from a hair cut I got over a year ago, pain in the WHOLE BACKSIDE! I thought I could bare with it but I couldn't anymore. Now my hair is about the same length and and EVEN.

My stylist was amazing and very comforting. She was actually hesitant in cutting too much, I told her to basically cut it all off but she wouldn't and didn't. She was able to even me out and she cut my hair while it was damp; I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. My stylist also took her time and was gentle with my coily thick hair. Once the cutting was done, she stretched my hair with the blow dryer to make sure it was all even. After ensuring my hair was evenly shaped, she re-wet it and finger coiled with Mizani's True Texture's Moisture Stretch. I ended up loving and buying the product, stay tuned for a review!

I know I will miss my length but the overall look and health of my hair is way more important. Words cannot explain how happy I am to have my hair one length. My twist outs will look better, my wash n go's will look better and if I decide to wear it straight, it will be all on length! It even feels amazing, I am so happy and excited to see the positive change over the next few months.

xoxo,
Alex

Your hair looks amazing! I love you with shorter hair, so I know you'll rock it well :] and it'll grow back! I keep my hair cut around the same length for the same reason - my hair grows in crazy layers. and I just like it shorter lol.

Congrats! Not everyone can do that and it shows how you want you put health of your hair before the length. Looking forward to seeing the journey. :-)

I love it ! It looks wonderful! I'm surprised that the salon you went to had a natural hair stylist ! A win for you! I feel the same way when it comes to trimming and cutting my hair. I think it all started when I had locs.. I had no problems cutting my hair for any reason! It's always going to grow back ! I am so excited to keep up with your new journey !

Love it!!! I am going to do a mini chop myself probably in July or August! I have heat damage & have contemplated chopping again prior to the damage. I take the heat damage as a sign to cut it...it's hair & it will go back w/ a little bit of TLC!!

Super cute :) That's inspiration because I need to do the same thing but I'm holding on to length. I've done it once to get rid of heat damage, but another cut..eek. Kudos to you.

I see you got A LOT cut off, but it looks good. The finger coils are really cute and the red in your hair still gives it that pop! :)

Love it, as asked from previous commenters which Bubbles did you go to, and who was the stylist? I'm in dire need of a proper shape up, and would love to go to somebody who takes their time.
