A while ago I was really into the Ayurvedic hair care and I still am but just not as heavy. Mainly because I got lazy. I know, I know, what an AWFUL excuse! Anywho, I found some oils in my bathroom cabinet that I needed to put to use. My old oil mix had gotten yucky so I figured it was time to mix up some new goodies that will not oil aide in a healthy scalp but that are also known to promote hair growth. They both go hand in hand because a healthy clean scalp equals healthy hair growth. Now, I have used these products separately for a while but I figured it would be even better if I mixed them. I LOVE Vatika oil with a passion by the way. It's basically pure coconut oil infused with ayurvedic herbs, amazeballs!
Under the jump you can find the amount of ingredients I used for the mix and their hair benefit properties. Feel free to share this recipe and tweak it to your liking. I like using the oil mix for my scalp massages and hot oil treatments. Good stuff!
The Good Hair Blog's Healthy Hair Oil Mix

4 oz of Vatika Oil (if your oil is solidified run under hot water to turn into a liquid)
2 oz of Emu Oil
10 drops of your favorite essential oil, I used Rosemary
*Feel free to use other oils if you want. EVOO is a great base to infuse your other oils with*
Benefits of the listed oils:
Bhringraj Oil: Indian herb also known as eclipta alba. When bhringraj oil is applied to the hair, it promotes hair growth, and is a natural cure for balding and thinning.
Vatika Oil: delicate mix of pure coconut oil with special hair care herbs including henna, amla and lemon. They are blended together to strengthen each strand of hair from within. Vatika's unique natural formulation ensures deeper oil penetration to give hair and scalp complete nourishment.
Vatika Oil: delicate mix of pure coconut oil with special hair care herbs including henna, amla and lemon. They are blended together to strengthen each strand of hair from within. Vatika's unique natural formulation ensures deeper oil penetration to give hair and scalp complete nourishment.
What's in Vatika Oil?:
Henna: along with other herbs coats your hair protects it from oxidation maintaining its natural color.
Amla: strengthens the roots of your hair to help maintain their health and natural thickness.
Lemon: the astringent action of lemon controls sebum flow.
Emu Oil: works with the anagen phase of hair growth. This is the only phase in which the hair follicle and the hair are actually considered “living,” and thus can be affected by any type of product. It is thought that emu oil benefits cell growth and provide skin stimulation around new hair follicles as they start and continue the development process. All of these together help hair to grow faster; in addition, the hair grown is said to be healthier.
Rosemary Oil: Regular use of rosemary oil helps in stimulating follicles, as a result of which, hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that rosemary oil slows down premature hair loss and graying of hair. Rosemary essential oil is also beneficial for dry and flaky scalps. Regular massage of scalp with rosemary oil nourishes the scalp and removes dandruff.

Thanks Robbi!! :)
So I was really excited about trying Vatika Oil, but then saw that there's hydroquinone in it. (That's the same ingredient used in a lot of skin lightening creams, and its a potential carcinogen). Ladies, does this concern you at all? I'm just scared to try now! lol
Love this stuff. To the previous poster it does not have hydroquinone known as the skin bleach... Read out the whole ingredient which is T-BUTYL HYDROQUINONE . A preservative which is also in a lot of foods that we eat. But there is question about this antioxidant being good for us anyway too. What really isnt questioned these days.
Sounds like a good mix. Definitely will give it a shot...already have vatika & rosemary oils on hand.
I absolutely love this post. I love hair oils. It is actually good to see the kinds of oils you use. I may have to go and check them out for myself. ;-)
- I can't even pronounce some of these lol. I hope this mix works well with yuhr hair !
Sounds good!! :D

Wow, where did that Vatica Oil came from? I have Morocan Oil and I love it too.. Janine of Beauty Salons ...
The Vatica Oil is just what I've been looking for. How come it's not even available here.
These oils have a very strange smell, which I think is due to the neem and amla. It kinda smells like lemons and coconuts and the longer you leave it on your hair, the stronger it gets! It also made my scalp itchy so I stopped using it. I’m now using Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan oil instead and it’s very light and the smell is very subtle. I love it and my hair is finally improving!
How much hair/body butter did you make, because I've heard that Whipped Shea Butter increases in volume.
Xx Ms Oyinda.
