Captured Curls: Whitney AKA "Naptural85"

Some of you may be familiar with Whitney AKA Naptrual85 from her AWESOME YT videos.
I have been a fan of hers for months now and I finally got her featured as a "Captured Curls" girl!
Whitney has been a natural hair idol of mine for quite sometime now and I am excited that you all can read her story...
Enjoy!

Tell me about YOU
Hi! My name's Whit but I go by Naptural85 on YouTube! I'm a Freelance Graphic Designer, Energy Consultant, Retired Certified Automotive Detailer, Natural Hair Vlogger, and a do-it-yourself, craft enthusiast! Haha, I love working with my hands!

Tell me your hair care regimen (do you use heat, natural products, ect...)
I like to keep a really simple regimen. I wash my hair about once a month and do twist-outs or quick rinses in-between. I  don't use shampoo or conditioner on my hair, instead I like to use organic hair wash made from clay. I find it's much gentler on my hair and leaves it extremely moisturized. It also helps to de-tangle my 4a tight curls quickly, and makes my hair more manageable and soft.

As for products I only use three! They are all-natural, homemade products: whipped shea butter for moisture-locking, flax seed gel for hold, definition and moisture, and the only store bought product I use is the Organic Clay Hair Wash.

I don't use heat on my hair. I don't know if I ever will, but as of right now, I have no desire to blow dry or straighten my hair.

Tell me your texture and what works best on your hair type
My texture is 4a tight pencil curls! They're a lot of fun, but can be a pain to de-tangle. So I find the best method of detangling it to detangle while wet with product in my hair. So I'll always mist with water, smooth on shea butter, and finger comb my hair before I start in with the wide-tooth comb. Also, the organic hair wash has done wonders for me! It used to take me 3.5 hours to wash my hair when I used shampoo and conditioner. Now it takes me 10 minutes! No joke! It's amazing!

Tell me the reaction you got when first going natural
My husband was the one to actually push me to do it. He was extremely supportive and excited for me! My mom was horrified, lol!! She did not think I was serious. But after my hair grew in and I did my BC (which she cut for me), she started warming up. She's extremely supportive now! I think she was worried that I wouldn't get a job... She was natural growing up and said it was really hard for her. So of course, she just wanted the best for me. I think the difference now is that there is so much more information for the transitioning natural, whereas when my mom was younger, there wasn't so much info... so I think I'm lucky to be in the middle of the "BURST" of the Natural Hair Age, where information is readily available to anyone who wants it!

Did you BC or transition, if so when or for how long?
I transitioned for about 4 months, and then chopped off the remaining relaxed hair. So I did a little bit of both! But after I BC'd that hair went right back into braided extensions lol... I was NOT ready to wear my hair out until a couple months later!

What makes you love your kinks, curls and coils?
I love my hair because it's unique, interesting, and fun. But most importantly, because it's my natural hair! The texture I was born to have! I love it because it is freedom. It's so funny that you don't really understand just how caged you were with your relaxed hair UNTIL you go natural. Seriously. When I was relaxed, I really thought that there was NO other alternative, I was a slave to the chemical and didn't even realize it! But as soon as I was fully natural, even in the transition stage, I felt so FREE and happy, and it's just the coolest feeling in the world to love your hair for what it is...

Capture Curls: Simone

Everyone, I am happy to introduce to you another BEAUTIFUL natural hair'd queen!
Read Simone's story below.
Her hair is to die for, I love it!

Enjoy!

Tell me about YOU
Im a 29 year old single mother...Im from long beach california. Ive been living in ATL for 3 years and now im moving to Brooklyn. I served in the Air Force for 8 years and now im going to school pursuing an education in Radiology.

Tell me your hair care regimen (do you use heat, natural products, ect...)
I dont really think i have a regimen, Im pretty go with the flow when it comes to my hair. I really like wash and go's. I wash once a week, and condition everyday if im wearing a wash and go. Ive been getting into two strand twists and i twist with a mixture of shea moisture's curly smoothie mixed with olive oil and coconut oil. I havent used heat since i decided to become natural but im very curious to how it will look now that it has grown.
Tell me your texture and what works best on your hair type
I think my texture is 3c/4a my 4a is more towards my crown but my nape and sideburns are very straight, when i twist them they hardly stay
Tell me the reaction you got when first going natural
I had a very positive reaction to going natural from my friends and family. We are pretty liberal and they know I do what i want so nobody really questions me lol
Did you BC or transition, if so when or for how long?
Well i always had shoulder length hair when i permed, then i moved up to a bob to see how i would look and i loved it, although i was still perming then. Then one day i asked my mom how did she think i would look with short hair because i really liked rihannas hair cut but i was scared because i dont have the smallest forehead. she took me to the barber and i just did it one day. the long parts on top i still permed but eventually i decided i wanted to see how my texture would be, and once Chris Rock's Good Hair came out i decided that I would commit, so i cut the perm parts off and never looked back.
What makes you love your kinks, curls and coils?
I love my kinks and coils because they are made for me, everyone that i see that is natural has their own flair and style and curl pattern, makes me feel like a fingerprint, i havent found anyone with quite my curl pattern but i think im pretty close to Elle aka CurlyheadedPj on twitter, so i like to watch her vids to see what she uses.
Where can we find you on the web?
im on twitter @lovePeaceOM and im on Tumblr with the same name. I dont blog because i have no idea what im doing and im video camera shy lol

Anything EXTRA you want us to know?
Im just so glad that women are actually taking a stand. I know ive seen so many people say that its a trend but i think its just the fact that so many are more aware of the damage we have done over the years, and im so thankful to be apart of the revolution :)

Holiday Hair (Part 2)

So, rodding the mini twist bang area of my holiday hair style was a COMPLETE fail. LOL I ended up wetting the twists this morning and smoothing with KCCC. I liked the results way better than super tight curls I got with the rods. Here are the results.
More pics under the juuuuump! :)

Holiday Hair (Part 1)

Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner? I can't. It's hard to fathom that this year is PRACTICALLY OVER! 2010 was a great year for me and I am super excited to see what 2011 will bring...
Any who, this Sunday (the 26th) will mark my 15th month since my BC! I decided to get my hair done in a special style for not only the holidays but also because I have made it 15 months natural, with no regrets or dissatisfaction.  The lady that did my weave and kinky twists has been braiding my hair for years now, even back when I had a relaxer. Luckily for me, she lives in my neighborhood (FTW) so whenever I want to get jazzy with my hair I can literally WALK to her house. Today I took her a few style pictures that I was interested in and explained to her that the last cornrow style I had made me look like a 10 year old child. I wanted something sassy, fun and age appropriate. I'm grown. LOL I don't want to look like a kid. She is an excellent braider and I am very pleased with the results. My hair is cornrowed up with a nice design on the side and back of my head and the top bang area is in tiny twists. I decided to set them on rods when I got home so add some "umph" to the style. I kind of feel like my hair is "Goapele inspired" which I LOVE.

Hair Food: Carrot Oil for hair growth

I was doing some research today on fruits and veggies that are beneficial for the hair and I came across a very interesting post on carrot oil. According to Ehow.com, Carrot oil, often known as carrot seed oil, is an essential oil with many uses.Using carrot oil is also beneficial in helping your hair to grow and preventing dry/split ends that ultimately results in length retention (source).
Carrot oil is rich in vitamins A and E and if used regularly it can strengthen and protect your hair.

Captured Curls: Ariel

Meet Ariel a new natural sharing her story and journey.

Enjoy!

Tell me about YOU
I'm a Texas girl who's lived here all 21 years of my life. Grew up in a small town, now living in the city. 3rd year college student pursuing 2 degrees: BBA in Marketing and BA in African & African Diaspora Studies. Love God, my family, and my friends; all three keep me sane and keep me going.
Tell me your hair regimen:
My hair is usually up in some protective style. I wear weaves in the cooler months (I like to call it head insulation. lol) and then braids, coils, or two-strand twists throughout the rest of the year with my hair out every once in a while in between. I'm still experimenting with products and styles. My mom did my hair until I moved away for college and still does it when I go home, so I'm a rookie at doing my own hair for the most part. Right now, I use Creme of Nature shampoo and conditioner as well as Shea butter mixed with EVOO.

Tell me your texture and what works best for your hair type
I am a 4b/c and what I've learned that works best for my hair type is patience. Detangling isn't my favorite thing to do and it takes me a while to detangle my hair because it's thick. I've also learned that I learn lots of moisturization. The more, the better.

Tell me the reaction you got when first going natural
My mom and grandmother definitely did not approve of my decision, and to this day, they still hope it's a phase. However, my dad's side of the family was very accepting of it because on that side, we have more hair diversity: relaxed, natural, pressed, and locks.

Did you BC or transition, if so when or for how long?
I've had 2 transition periods and 2 big chops. When I first started college in Fall 2008, I transitioned from August to December with braids, but was discouraged by my mom and got my last relaxer in December 2008. Then, I started transitioning again and did my own BC on July 10, 2009. Right after that, I got a weave and some braids, but when I took my braids out, my TWA was very uneven and noticable, so I got another chop on September 9, 2009.

What makes you love your kinks, curls, and coils?
I love my kinks, curls, and coils because they make me unique. I've learned to love myself just the way God made since I went natural. Also, I love the variety of things I can do with my hair that I was never able to do when I had relaxed hair.

Product Review: Oyin's Hair Dew

8oz-$12.00

Product Description:
Creamy, conditioning leave-in is light enough for every day. it's great on 'naked' hair immediately after a cleanse, or as a way to reinvigorate tired hair all the way through your hair care cycle.

Ingredients:
purified water, castor oil, olive oil, organic aloe vera gel, behentrimonium methosulfate (emulsifier), coconut oil, olive squalane, optiphen (preservative), cetyl alcohol, and love!

My Experience:
I LOVE THIS, LOL! Maybe I am biased because I love everything from Oyin Handmade; all of their products works super well for me and my hair. When I heard that Oyin was releasing a new product I was amped! This light weight moisturizer smells like their Burnt Sugar pomade, very sweet and warm. The consistency is perfect, not too thick or too watery. You can definitely tell the product is water based which is good since water is the best moisturizer for natural hair. Oyin's Hair Dew goes on smooth and my strands SUCK IT UP, I used it for a twist out and I was impressed with how soft my hair felt once the twists were unravled. I am very pleased with it and super glad that I purchased it.

Overall:
As usual, Oyin gets 2 thumbs up! No complaints and I will be repurchasing.

DIY: Easy Hair "Growth" Serum

(source)

A lot of you my twitter followers have been inquiring about my favorite hair growth serums and my homemade growth oil that I use almost daily. Today I decided to post about both. I like hair growth serums because they help the overall health of my scalp. A clean healthy scalp PROMOTES strong healthy GROWING hair. Please keep in mind that there is NOTHING  you can put on your actual hair to "make" it grow, hair, itself is dead all you can really do is preserve. Growing long hair starts within. Eating nutritious foods, drinking water, exercising and taking vitamins all contribute to growing long luscious locks.

I have 2 favorite growth products that I am using and one new one that I am giving a try:

1.Mega Tek
2.Bee Mine Growth Serum
3.MTG (just started using)

Mega Tek has been a favorite of mine since I first went natural.  I was using it daily for months and I  saw some awesome results from it. This product is very rich in proteins so please be careful when using if you hair is protein sensitive. This product was originally made for horses but when humans started using it a seeing results the product crossed over quickly! I love it.

Bee Mine Growth Serum I have been using this oil for a month now and I am in love with it. Contains great ingredients and sulfur, which helps promote hair growth. I use this oil almost every night before I go to bed after I twist my hair up.  This oil leaves my roots very soft and my scalp loves it. So far, I can't tell if it is making my hair grow by itself because I do take MSM vitamins and Biotin in conjunction with it.  Want to learn about Sulfur and hair growth, click here.

MTG  I decided to try this stuff after my girl Elle over at "Quest for the Perfect Curl" was taking about it on Twitter. I asked her a few questions and saw her results and I was sold. I know that different products work differently on different people but I had to give it a try. One the left side of my hair suffered some breakage from the color I put in it and I trying to re-grow the little section back so I figured I'd use this to help. So far, I have used it EVERY NIGHT for 2 weeks. I can definitely see some improvement. I am excited to see the results I get in a month. I use the bee mine serum in the morning and this at night. The smell of MTG is like bacon, LOL, so using it at night allows the smell to disappear in time for the morning.

Now, my homemade growth oil recipe is simple, click the jump.

Todays' Hair: Flat Twist out

My flat twists turned out pretty good. I am very pleased with the definition I got from leaving them in for 2 days! I can also see that my bangs are growing and they are almost touching the top of my lip, exciting! The last time I got a trim I had to get 1/2 cut off because my ends were so split. I am glad to see that my hair is growing back nicely and in a shape. I twisted with Curls Milkshake and Koils by Nature Hair Butter (I love this stuff).

Product Review: Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment

$55 for 4.6 oz jar

Product Description:
Hydrates dry, damaged hair and strengthens and restores a healthy look and feel to hair. Leaves hair extraordinarily soft, silky, and manageable. Even healthy-looking hair shows a noticeable improvement.

Ingredients:
Elaeis Oleifera (American Palm Oil), Perfume (Fragrance), Citronellol, Lecithin, Linalool, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Citric Acid, Prunus Africana (Prunus Africana Bark Extract), Serenoa Serrulata (Serenoa Serrulata Extract)

My Experience:
I first used Ojon when I did my BC, I liked the results I got but the smell was just dreadful. I din't use it often. The last time I applied it was sometime last year, the remaining product was stuff in a bathroom drawer until recently. After taking down my kinky twists I decided to DC with Ojon under my hair steamer, it worked great! Since I didn't have to DC overnight the smell was tolerable. This product is a good if you are looking for moisture and a solution for dry hair but it is expensive. I got mine from Ebay for a little cheaper than the RSP but you can get it in stores like Sephora.

Overall:
I give Ojon 2 thumbs up but I will not be repurchasing. It is way too pricey. A little of the product goes a long way and it can last a while if you use it sparingly. I am just not willing to pay over $20 for a product when I need to restock.

Have any of you tried this product? If so, what are YOUR thoughts?

Kinky Twists Take Down

So, my kinky twists didn't last long, LOL, I just couldn't deal with them and they kept slipping out. I took them out 2 days ago and my hair felt EXTREMELY dry. I was surprised at that because I was doing my best to moisturize my hair/scalp daily. A deep condition was really needed so I decided to give my Huetiful Hair Steamer a try, that was exciting. I pre-poo'd my hair first, sat under the steamer, rinsed/washed and then DC'd under the steamer once more.

Pre-Poo Treatment
1. Picked out hair with wide tooth comb.
2. Spritz with Green Tea and peppermint EO mix
3. Seperated into 6 sections
4.Detangled sections and applied Ojon's Restorative Treament (review coming soon)
5. Sat under steamer for 15 minutes

The hair steamer worked great  before I shampooed. The Ojon treatment seemed to really absorb in my hair strands which was a great thing. Usually, I leave the Ojon on over night but this time I didn't have too. The Ojon treatment smells GROSS, like Cuban cigars so not having to sleep in it was awesome. Once I rinsed the pre-poo out I washed with a clarifying shampoo bar and Curls Cleansing Cream. My hair needed 2 washes because it was so dirty- the water was running brown, YUCK. After my hair was clean I applied Curl's Coconut Sublime conditioner which I love. When I used  that stuff my hair instantly felt like silk and my curls POPPED, highly recommended. I sat back under the steamer for 30 minutes and I was pleased with how hydrated my hair felt. Since I colored treated my hair a few months ago I think it's good that I have the steamer to use now to reduce any dryness and/or breakage that may be caused by the color.

After everything was rinsed out I styled my hair in flat twists and I added perm rods to the ends. I am excited to see how the style comes out. It's been really cold in DC lately so I may wear my beanies the rest of the week to protect hair from the cold weather. Also, I purchased some Mane Tail Grow oil as a growth aide since my Bee Mine Growth Serum is running low. I applied it to my scalp, smells gross but I added some EO's to it to eliminate that slight bacon smell it has. I have been using the MTG along for a week now and the Bee Mine Serum for about a month. I am anxious to see how much growth I get. Bee Mine's product has been working well for me, I noticed that the back part of my hair has grown back considerably since using it. I had it cut a couple of months ago and it now seems to be coming back nicely! Exciting! I will keep you all updated on my growth and the growth aide reviews are coming soon!

Pics of my flat twists under the jump.

Special Feature: Artist Miya Bailey

Everyone, I am super honored to feature Miya Bailey an amazing artist and lover of natural queens.
I first stumbled across Mr. Bailey on Twitter this summer. I was enamored by his talent and artwork and since I am a lover of tattoo's and all things beautiful I quickly became a huge fan!
I plan on getting tattoo'd by him sometime next year and I cannot wait to see what piece he will create just for me.
A few weeks ago I decided to reach out to him and ask if he would be interested in being featured on my blog , it was an honor to have him say yes!
It took me a while to come up with the questions because I wanted you all to get to know him as an artist and get his view on black woman and our hair.
The questions I came up with seemed to intertwine well and reading his responses gave me chills.
He loves black woman and the way he talks about his wife is so admirable.

"Peace Soap" by Kiss my Face

Product Description:
All Purpose, 100% Natural Castile Soap. Give Peace Soap a chance!

GOOD FOR YOU BECAUSE...
Olive & coconut oils- moisturizing and skin softening
Simple Castile formula - cleans gently, 101 uses
Lavender Mandarin - This soothing, relaxing scent transports you to a peaceful place.

Ingredients:
Aqua, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil/Huile de noix de coco), Olea Europaea (Olive Oil Fruit Oil/Huile d'olive)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil/Huile de jojoba)*, Xanthan Gum, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender Oil/Huile de lavande), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange Oil/Huile d'orange)
*Organic/Organique

My Experience:
I am a huge fan of this castille soap. It's very similar to Dr. Bronners castille soap but for some reason I like this one better. I think it's because of the packaging and the name, LOL. The scents are great too. I find that the scent variety is more calming than Dr. Bronners and no where near as strong. I use the Peace Soap to wash my daughters hair, my face and hands and I have also used it as a body wash. It's great! On the bottle is says you can use in practically anywhere on your body or in your house. It's even gentle enough to wash your car, eye glass lenses and FRUIT! Pretty impressive and it's affordable. I purchased two bottles from my local Target ($9.99 each) and I will definitely be going back for more.

Overall:
I like castille soaps because they are a great alternative to harsh shampoos and soaps that contain sulfates. Peace Soap smells great and cleans very well. I will be adding this to my staple product collection.

Loc'd Men: Lamine

Tell us a little about yourself? (ex. name, age, state, school)
My name is LamineN’dour, 25, from Maryland, High School: attended Largo/Newport/Kennedy, College: Brown University

How long have you been growing your locs?
I’ve had my locs since senior year of HS, so I guess that makes it almost seven years now.

What do you use on your hair, product wise, to maintain it?
I don’t have too many special products or requirements when it comes to my hair. Having lived just about everywhere in this area and going to school in Rhode Island I had to make different products work. I was “blessed” with hair that locs easily lol, I could literally use olive oil or any non-flaking product from the Beauty Supply.

How often do you have to wash and re-twist your loc’s and who styles them?
4.       I wash my hair about every 3-4 weeks, re-twisting I get lazy with that at times, plus I don’t really like my hair freshly twisted, so I would say retwisted every 8 weeks or so lol. Stylists vary from mom, mysister, my girl, myself or I will train a girl at the drop of a dime if she’s willing.

What do you think about women with natural hair? Do you care if your woman is relaxed, natural or loc’d? I think it’s a great idea to for women to have natural hair; my mother has always worn her hair in natural styles. When it comes to my woman I truly don’t care whatever the look is, it just has to be maintained and be a good fit for them, because I would be honest if it wasn't.

Do you think women who choose to loc their hair are sexy?
I think a woman who has locs CAN be sexy, I don’t think a hairstyle alone deems someone sexy.
7.       The pros of having locs are that its natural, its liberating to me. As far as cons, locs carry a stigma with them-people attribute them to affecting job offers, and profiling- but I’m a rebel and I like that part. Think whatever you want, I’m not worried.

What made you loc your hair?
8.       I loc’d my hair because my mom had dreads,I had cornrows and braids like everyone else from the “Iverson era” lol, but I became bored and it was tiring always getting my hair braided. So, I had hair but when starting my locs I trimmed them to about an inch thinking that was the only way.

What makes a woman's hair beautiful to you?
What makes a woman’s hair beautiful to me…..uhhmm I don’t really know. I have never thought to myself, ‘wow, she has really beautiful hair!’ Honestly it would only catch my attention if something was awry. However I have seen some wonderful locs on women and thought ‘she has nice locs’ because I understand and can appreciate what care it takes.

Do you have any advice for those who are considering loc'ing their hair?
If you want  to loc your hair, go for it! Just understand that it’s not an overnight thing, and if you look around it’s not so unique anymore, so make sure that’s really what you want to do.”

Where can we find you on the web?
You can find me fooling around on Twitter (@lndour)or with my crew DYDC (dylifestyle.tumblr.com) we do a few things around the city.

A Man's P.O.V: Luck

Name: Luck
Age: 25
Location: DMV

Meet Luck, a very close friend of mine who is a lover of Natural Hair.
I was excited to read his interview questions because I know he is a fan of Curly Girls.
Read his POV below.

How important is a woman’s hair to you? Especially if you are dating her, does she have to wear her hair a certain way to keep/grab your interest? (i.e. which styles down vs. ponytail vs. bun, hair length?)

A woman’s hair is very important to me, because it’s part of a woman keeping herself at the top of her game. I am a sucker for natural hair (period). I love to see a woman pull off any style that truly accentuates her features.

Do you think that there is a ‘Natural Hair Movement’ or trend going on these days? Why do you think so many women are choosing to go natural now, do you think it’s a fad?

I do think there’s a movement going on. I think more women are becoming comfortable with their natural hair. I don’t believe it’s a fad though, because going natural should be a long term commitment.

Would you support your partner or family members (i.e. mother, sister, daughter) if she decided to become natural?

I would definitely support any woman I know with that decision.

How important is hair texture to you? If your significant other were to go natural, would the texture of her hair affect your opinions on whether she should remain natural or not?

Hair texture is important to me. Obviously with going natural, your hair texture would change, so as long as she is happy with the result, I would be behind her.

What is your definition of “Good Hair” and how do you feel about the word “Nappy?”

My definition of good hair is probably not to different from most people’s definition, and that would be of the soft and silky variety. As far as the word nappy, I don’t see anything wrong with it. I mean, if you don’t have “good hair”, that doesn’t mean your hair has to be nappy, and there are a variety of products on the market that will help “nappy” hair.

Would you rather your partner wear her hair natural or in a weave? Why or why not?

I’ve traditionally kind of always been attracted to long, flowing hair. So, if that’s the look my partner was attempting to achieve, I wouldn’t mind a weave, as long as it is maintained. I find myself now really enjoying natural hair though.

If you are involved with a woman do you think she should consult with you when it comes to making changes to her hair?

I don’t think she needs to consult with me, but if she runs it by me, I’ll give her my honest opinion. Usually, my opinion is valued by my partner, so I appreciate being available for consultation.

Why does it seem like some men are “hung up” on hair length? Does it matter to you?

I think men are infatuated with long hair, because that’s always been what we’ve been told is beautiful, and until we know what beauty means to us, we go for that. I think women are amazing with any length hair, but not every woman can pull off every look.

Would you be supportive in your partner’s journey to go natural?

I would be 100% supportive of that.

What makes black women and their hair unique and beautiful to you?

Black women have so much style and creativity when it comes to their hair, it’s crazy to see all the styles you all come up with.

Who is your favorite “curly girl?” (i.e. celebrity, actress, friend, ect.)
My favorite “curly girl” would be Alex, because you wear all natural styles flawlessly.

A Man's P.O.V: Caleb

Meet Caleb, this weeks man, giving his P.O.V on women and our natural hair.

1.   How important is a woman’s hair to you? Especially if you are dating her, does she have to wear her hair a certain way to keep grab your interest? (i.e. which styles down vs. ponytail vs. bun, hair length?)
I personally am a fan of longer hair in curls, but as long as it's all yours and not a wig or weave I'm a fan. It really varies female to female.

2.   Do you think that there is a ‘Natural Hair Movement’ or trend going on these days? Why do you think so many women are choosing to go natural now, do you think it’s a fad?
I think it is trending right now because so many people have voiced their displeasure for the fakeness for a couple years and its a recession. It's expensive to keep your hair did haha.

3.   Would you support your partner or family members (i.e. mother, sister, daughter) if she decided to become natural?
Most definitely. All the women in my immediate family are natural with dreadlocks and the like. They would definitely here it from me if they were constantly killing their hair or just looking tacky.

4.   How important is hair texture to you? If your significant other were to go natural, would the texture of her hair affect your opinions on whether she should remain natural or not?
Hair texture is not something im really concerned about, but I wouldn't want to put my hands in dry, rough hair that feels like it would cut me.

5.   What is your definition of “Good Hair” and how do you feel about the word “Nappy?”
"Good hair" is based on societies idea of "good hair". I know many people with dreadlocks have healthy good hair. Nappy is just unkempt. Healthy hair is good hair too me.

6.   Would you rather your partner wear her hair natural or in a weave? Why or why not?
Natural. Simply beacuse if you dont have the Beyonce weave, your weave is so obvious. Fake hair is a turn off. I dont want to be in bed with my girl one night and her hair just come out in my hand haha.

7.   If you are involved with a woman do you think she should consult with you when it comes to making changes to her hair?
In the end, I don't run her life so she can do what she wants to her hair, but I would like her to consult me so I can advise her when she might be deciding to make her self look like a sideshow with a nicki minaj look.

8.   Why does it seem like some men are “hung up” on hair length? Does it matter to you?
I like long hair but any length is cool with me as long as it suits her aesthetic and face. Length matters to ment because some guys feel like a woman is supposed to have hair longer than their own. They don't want their womans head to feel like a mans.

9.   Would you be supportive in your partner’s journey to go natural?
            110%.

10. What makes black women and their hair unique and beautiful to you?
Black womens hair allows them to be very creative with their hair, but natural healthy hair adds to the beauty of a woman.

11. Who is your favorite “curly girl?” (i.e. celebrity, actress, friend, ect.)
I really cant think of any “curly girls” so I’ll just say Alexis Belon. (www.alexisbelon.com)
