In Review: MONOI REPAIRING SPLIT END SEALER

$25 for 1.7 FL OZ

Seal 93.3% of split ends instantly with this repairing lotion that binds the separated ends of hair so you can skip the trim & keep the length.
  • • Monoi Oil repairs hair damage
  • • Carob Seed Extract binds hair fibers together
  • • Babassu Oil helps strengthen hair’s structure from within

Let me start by saying the Elle of  Quest for the Perfect Curl gets me in TROUBLE! The minute she reviewed this product I wanted it and the nice PR rep from Carol's Daughter sent me some when I went BEGGING to her via email... LOL. You can watch Elle's video HERE. Thanks Elle because this product is the TRUTH!

Moving on...

I was in awe when I first tried CD's Split End Sealer. I literally ripped opened the box,  grabbed a few pieces of hair, smoothed the serum on my ends and OMG it looked like they were immediately "glued" together. Granted I got a trim not too long ago so my ends weren't that bad but it was still exciting to see the products capability. My first impression?-yes, this product lives up to it's name about being a sealant. I've been using the serum like lotion for a few days now and can already say that I am very much in love. My ends feel great and coil flawlessly. Normally I use my natural butters and oils for sealing but it was nice to try something a little different and longer lasting.

The ingredients in this product aren't TERRIBLE but they aren't all natural either... there are some goodies though like coconut oil, hibiscus extract and shea butter. Now, although I did not buy this item, it was sent to me for free, I will say that $25 is STEEP. Will I buy it on my own when I run out... probably. YES, it's that's great. However, I will be savoring this little 1.7oz of goodness for as long as I can. A little goes a long way but my hair is so thick that I'm not quite sure how long it'll really last. I've used this on wet and dry hair with no complaints. I will say that I do like the slip it gives my wet hair but I can't really "see" the ends sealing when my strands are wet; on dry hair it's easier to witness the magic.

Captured Curls: Danielle

Please, introduce yourself!

My name is Danielle (Elle), and I am a 28 year old natural hair
blogger at http://ellegantelle.com!

What is your current hair care regimen?

My hair regimen changes like the seasons! I spent all summer doing
wash n’ gos. My “wash n go” regimen consists of co-washing my hair
during the beginning of the week, and using Tresemme Naturals, Raw
Shea Butter, and Eco Styler to define my curls. Currently I am wearing
braid-outs. My Braid-out regimen consists of co-washing my hair,
dividing my hair into four sections, using Shea Moisture Curl and
Style Conditioning Milk and Jamaican Black Castor Oil, and creating
four braids that I take out the following day.

I try to wear my hair in buns/ponytails at least 3 times a week
(usually on my “bad” hair days”).

Oh yeah, and I love any hair care regimen that is simple!

What is your hair type and what works best for your texture?

I’m not one that believes in hair typing. I haven’t quite figured out
what my actual hair type is because I have so many different curl
patterns in my hair. The front of my hair has a loose texture while
the back of my hair is more kinky and coily.

My Top 3 Natural Sealants

What is sealing?: Sealing can be achieved by using oils or silicone based products to retain moisture levels in the hair.

When do you seal? Often times it's best to seal strands AFTER applying water and/or moisturizer. Sealants, like Shea butter are also referred to as "anti humectants."

What's the goal of sealing?  The main goal of sealing the hair is to trap the moisture in your cuticles so it can't get out and excess moisture in the air can't get in.

My Top 5 Sealants
*I have type 4a low porosity hair. These products work best for my type, do your own research before trying.*

Co-Washing w/ Carol's Daughter

HAIR MILK CO-WASH CLEANSING CONDITIONER
Sulfate-free co-wash to get your curls extra clean without frizz-causing suds, and keeps them incredibly moisturized and detangled.
Learn More About Cleansing Your Curls
  • • Shea Butter helps quickly detangle hair and rehydrate curls
  • • Pro-Vitamin B5 leaves hair stronger and in better condition
  • • Agave Nectar keeps moisture locked in for better definition and frizz control
  • (From  http://www.carolsdaughter.com)

I am sure that many of you have heard about the revamped Hair Milk line by Carol's Daughter, if not you should definitely do some research! I was sent the entire line to try and so far, so good! I decided that I will be trying the products and reviewing them individually starting with my favorite, the co-wash cleansing conditioner... wow, I love this stuff!

Since I am a huge fan of co-washing I try to look for products that will not only give me great slip but will aide in detangling, this hair milk conditioner definitely does both while leaving my coils soft and hydrated. The only thing I would complain about is the scent, I'm not a fan. It's strong and florally to me. I guess I was expecting something sweet, maybe vanilla like? Hopefully they will offer this in an unscented version eventually.

Usually for my co-washing I use Oyin Handmade's Honey Hemp conditioner but this product will be added to my line up. I've used the Hair Milk conditioner 4 times already and each and every time the results are fab and my hair is in love! I like how the product makes my curls pop without needing any additional product, only if I was a "wash and go" girl, *le sigh* LOL!

I'll be updating you all on the the other products as I get to know them better so stay tuned...

Have you used this product? If so, leave your comments, thoughts, etc below!

xoxo,
Alex
