Healthy Hair: Faux Loc Maintenance

This past two weeks has been fun! I've been rocking my loc extensions and loving it *insert hair flip emoji here*.  The older they get the better they look which I love! Many of you have been asking me how I maintain them. Below you will find what I use, how I use it and the frequency. This style, like Marley Twists, are pretty easy to keep up! Low maintenance protective styles are my favorite.

What I use daily:

If you don't have this product that's fine. Use your favorite lightweight oil. Coconut oil or grapeseed would be ideal.  I use this oil almost daily on my scalp. It's super light and absorbs great without leaving gunk and evidence behind.

Ade Vegan Hair's Cucumber Aloe Mist
I take my hair down every morning and spritz in sections

At night I sleep on a satin pillow case.

There is no science to taking care of your hair while PS'ing. You don't need a boatload of products to get the job done either. I learned that the hard way! Product build up is NO FUN. The fewer products you use, the less build up you will have. Also, less product build up means the longer you can go without taking down the style and washing. I only wash my hair once a month. Sometimes I will stretch for 6 weeks if my product usage is low. A few ladies have asked me do I wash my faux locs/marley twists; no I do not. I am too afraid that they will slip off and because I don't need to wash my hair often, not washing works for me.

Have more questions?
Leave them below.

Oh, and I do not think I will be permanently loc'ing my hair anytime soon. After having these I have figured out that although they are FUN I am NOT READY! LOL, #HairCommitmentIssues #Iwannatouchmyloosehairfromtimetotime

Is anyone else going to try these out?

xoxo,
Alex

I've been thinking about locing my hair for a while now too...but I'm not ready for the commitment. I'm going to do yarn wraps for a while, just to see how I like the look. These look good on you though, and pretty natural as well!

I need to try out the Ade Vegan Hair's Cucumber Aloe Mist. I used her Vanilla Bean scented cream you recommended one time and I loved it. I feel you on those hair commitment issues! These are beautiful and very natural looking :-)

I've tried faux locs before and I couldn't figure out hos to prevent the hair from slipping off of my twists. It drove me crazy! How do you prevent that from happening.

yes, I actually in the middle of scheduling a appt with Katrina. How many locs do you have in your head and how many packs of hair did you buy?

You know that 1 inch of our real hair by our scalp that shows when we do braids or twist. You have to get the marley hair through that. That way the hair wont unravel when u wrap it. I suggest using the hoop on a bobby pin to get the marley hair through that inch of hair that is left out by your scalp. Once u get the marley haor through, u can begin to wrap, burn the ends, and youre good to go! Btw I'm 15 and my mom is finishing them today! Hope this helped!

What hair did you use to do this? Did you have to have your own hair twisted first before wrapping the extension?
