Today's HAIR: 2/22/11

I know a lot of you are going to be proud to see this post; I got another protective style, YAY! I really haven't been in the mood to do anything with my hair lately so I decided to get it cornrowed up. The whole process took about and hour, which is not bad at all. I took a few pics to show you how it turned out, I like it. If you are interested in knowing who my braider is let me know and I will email you her info. This style cost me $50.
I twisted the bangs for a T.O. and I used Sweet Ohm Hair Pudding, which I LOVE and some Oyin Greg Juice.

This is too cute and just in time since spring is right around the corner (hopefully). I just sent an email request for your stylist's info. Lord knows, I need a cute protective style

OMG, that is soooo cute!!! I don't think I would have been creative enough to think of the TO in front.

hey alex-
im enjoying your blog, so please keep up the good work. you and i seem to be at similar stages in our growth, so i consider you a go-to resource for inspiration and styling. question, however, i know that you mentioned a few months ago that one of your concerns was the growth of your hair, particularly certain areas that werent growing at the same speed as others. one thing i've noted along to natural hair education is that changing your hairstyle often and/or lots of manipulation by changing your hair constantly, can impede growth. ive taken to trying to limit my hairstyle to one protective style (the cinnabun). sure it's not all that exciting after a few weeks, but my hair has grown like crazy in the 1.5 months that i've been rocking it. wishing you the best!

Njeri- Thanks girl! I think you are right. I am just going to suck it up and keep my hair in a PT to retain length. I am coming to realize that my hair is FRAGILE and cannot take a lot of manipulation.

So, I will be wearing my hair braiding in funky styles like this for a while.

I love this style. I too am protective styling but since I'm in Spain right now I only trust myself to do my hair. I want to do this style with flat 2 strand twists but I feel like I'll never get my parts that straight. Love it!

Do you go to someone to get your hair braided? A friend? Salon?

I want to do this SO badly but I don't trust just any ole body in my hair....

I always like your protective styles. I had my hair braided like this a few weeks ago, I called it Scales and Tales on the blog!! I wore it for about two weeks!! I wish I could find a reliable braider in my community! Instead I slaved 3 hours using a body length mirror and my bathroom mirror!! #tedious
