I love OYIN!

Oyin Handmade has been dear to my heart since I big chopped in 2007. I have used Oyin's product line faithfully for the past two years on my hair and body. The scents and richness of the products give me a feeling of warmth and perfection-- yes, they are that good. Whenever someone asks me what I use in my hair, Oyin is the first thing I say and I'm quick to point whoever asked in their direction. I even give Oyin as gifts to friends and family who are new to the natural hair game. So, I guess it's safe to say that Oyin products are my staple. The whole line, I love and would recommend any and everyone to try them.

A lot of people want to know what my favorite everyday product is so I figured it was only right to do a mini review on Oyin's "Shine and Define." Friday I had that pleasure of stopping by Oyin Handmade's store in Baltimore for their "First Friday" gathering which was a lot of fun.  I picked up a few goodies, that I wasn't really supposed to buy but I couldn't  help myself. My main goal for going to Oyin was to mingle with fellow naturals and pick up some more of my beloved "Shine and Define" since I had literally JUST used my last bit earlier in the week. Luckily, I was able to snag the last jar that had the original Oyin packing and I saved 50% off of an 8oz jar--awesome! The reason why  I like "Shine and Define" is because it's light and gives me great definition when I re-twist at night. I feel that a little goes a long way but even if you tend to be heavy handed with the product it won't weigh your hair down.

The scent of the "Shine and Define" is what gets me the most. It's subtle but a tad fruity with a hint of zest. I'm reminded of sherbet when I smell it. This product is one that you don't mind if the scent lingers in your hair all day. I love it! I'm also a fan of the texture. Trying to describe it is kind of hard but it's not quite a pudding it's more like a softened ice cream or a thick  meringue.

I use "Shine and Define" on damp hair and I seal my strands with Oyin's Whipped Pudding or Shea butter to help retain moisture. I can definitely say that I cannot live without this product. I've had my share of product junkie'ism but I always run back to Oyin. LOL, you guys know that feeling, right? BEST OF ALL, Oyin's products are made by hand, with love and with YUMMY natural ingredients that are safe to use! It gets no better than that.

What product can you not live without?

xoxo,
Alex

Hello Alex ! I'm fond of Oyin Handmade too. I live in France and the delivery ad tax costs are high but I manage to get some products. I don't really like the juices and berries but I can't live without the Hair Dew! A friend of mine who is in USA right now is going to bring me back some items so that I can try them.

I haven't tried any Oyin products but they do sound deliciously heavenly.

For now, I'm using up my stash of Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothies (which I love!), Eco styler Olive Oil gel and Cantu products before I try my hand at making my own.

However, after reading your review, I am almost tempted to begin loving new purchased products :)

I just recently began using the Whip Pudding Sugar and berries pomade and the Hair Dew and I LOVE IT! The whip pudding triples as a hair moisturizer a body moisterizer and a facial moisterizer during the colder dryer months. Next I will try the shine and define. Thanks for the info
