Healthy Hair: Deep Conditioning with Anita Grant

After 56 weeks of consecutive protective styling I decided it was time to treat myself. Yes, 56 weeks of weave installs and Havana (or Marley) twists! I did it and am so proud of myself for making it this far. After each PS I would wash my hair really good, condition then pop back in my HeatFreeHair or twists--doing that for over a year was awesome! At first it was challenge then it became a routine; a way of life if you may. While in my PS's I would stock up on products that I wanted to use when the year was over, products that I loved and knew worked for my hair. One of those products are my absolute fave, banana rhassoul mud (heart shaped) cubes from Anita Grant.

These cubes are a gift from the natural hair gawds! When I tell you I am in LOVE with this little heart of moisture that might be an understatement. Paired with my hot coconut milk and olive oil mix, you really cannot go wrong. These little gems are packed with banana powder, honey, rhassoul clay, cocoa powder and more! They smell heavenly and are really fun to use.

The rhassoul clay is very easy to use and doesn't really get messy until the application process. All I do is heat the coconut milk over the stove (in the can), open it and use about 8 oz. I then add the hot liquid to the cube in a heat resistant bowl along with a few drops of olive oil. The heart should start to melt away but you'll need to help it along with a fork until it's completely dissolved in the coconut milk.

I ended up storing the mix in a mason jar for a less messy  time but you don't have to. Also, everything looks better in mason jars...

The application is pretty simple! I like to section off my hair is 4 part then split each part into sections of two (thick hair problems). Make sure you have lots of butterfly clips on hand.

My hair not only feels amazing but it smells like chocolate! Since I haven't used the cubes in FOREVER I forgot how much I truly enjoyed them.

Once I rinsed the mud out (after about an hour) I blew out my hair and popped it in a bun. The bun will probably be my PS for the next week until I install my havana twists. It feels weird having my hair loose now! I've missed it so much but want to keep my length retention at an all time high with a low maintenance style regi.

This whole ordeal took me about 4 hours... That is one thing I don't miss about loose hair--the time spent is crazy! I have been blessed with THE THICKEST hair on earth so 4 hours is more of a treat; sometimes it takes longer. Also, my bun is poppin' and I am so happy (and in awe) of the fact that I protected my hair religiously for over a year!

Alex

Gorge bun! You're right! Everything does look better in a mason jar.

That bun is everything! I need to allow my strands to indulge in a treat like this one day soon, bookmarking it :)

Your bun looks so nice, do you use a bun ring or just your hair?
